NEHEMIAH 2

Chapter 2  opens up with Nehemiah bringing the king the wine that he had chosen for him, and the king noticed that Nehemiah was sadder than usual without any physical sickness. He opens up to the king about what happened to the walls of Jerusalem, and the gates that were burned. Right away He knew he had favor in the Lord simply by having the king ask what his request would be. Similarly when we seek the Lord and cry out to the Lord, He would want us to make our requests known to Him. Having that trust, and confidence, and most especially the dependence on Him.
He answered after praying that "if it pleases the kinf and if your servant has found favor in your sight, I ask that you send me to Judah." Nehemiah 2:4. This is showing that Nehemiah was not doing or requesting according to the king's will, and not his own will. You see in every way, Nehemiah is a good example to us, because, He made his request known, having that trust, and faith that it will happen, and he sought the king's will. the same way, when we pray, that we seek our King's will, and not by ours alone. you see God is not a genie, that we just tell him what we want to happen, but he has God, and He answers according to his will. Nehemiah is later on in Jerusalem, and was looking at the walls, without him telling anyone is grandiose plan of reestablishing the walls. the same way with our lives, shouldnt we rebuild the walls of Jerusalem in our lives, rebuilding that trust in the Lord, that spiritual wall, not against other people but against our enemies. The bible says, that we are not fighting against flesh and blood, but of power and principalities. Now shouldnt we build a spiritual wall which will hold up our foundation, and be able to protect us from the enemies? How can we establish this? Nehemiah started off by praying to God, and seeking His will, and also the king's will. Now what does that say to us as believers? That we pray without seizing - 1 thessalonians 5:17, and that we continue to seek the kingdom of God, and his will first.
